Backyard Burning Information Line
503.992.3242

Backyard burning is limited to "Burn Days" authorized by DEQ during the spring (March 1 -
June 15)and fall (October 1 - December 15) seasons.

Prior to burning, please call the burn line 503.992.3242 to confirm burning is allowed for that
day. Only yard debris generated from your own yard may be burned.  For more information
refer to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's Open Burning Guide

Agricultural Burning

Agricultural waste is material generated by an agricultural operation that uses, or intends to
use, land primarily for the purpose of obtaining a profit in money by raising, harvesting and
selling crops or raising and selling animals, or the products of animal husbandry. Prohibited
materials can't be burned, even in an agricultural setting.  Even if you are zoned ag this alone
does not qualify you as an ag operation.

Slash Burning

Slash burning is regulated by Oregon Department of Forestry.  Contact the Forest Grove office
at 503.357.2191 to see if you meet their guidelines and to have a permit issued.

If you have any questions regarding backyard burning, contact the fire station.
